In the outlook section of its results, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) said it expects to deliver a mid-teens or better RoTE for 2025, excluding notable items, which reflects sustained momentum in the earnings of its four businesses into 3Q25 and the positive progress it is making in its strategic execution.

HSBC HOLDINGS's guidance also reflects a seasonally lower RoTE in 4Q25, which includes historically lower client activity in Wealth and certain cost items specific to 4Q25 (e.g. the UK bank levy). It also includes a higher level of capital having announced its intention not to initiate share buy-backs temporarily in the context of its proposal to privatize HANG SENG BANK (00011.HK).
