US Tariff Policy Leads to Substantial Hike in German Imports from CN

The latest research from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Germany shows that, due to the impact of US tariff policies, Germany's import growth of Chinese goods in 7M25 surged at more than 2x the total import growth rate, according to Reuters.

Imports from China increased by 10.5% to EUR97.6 billion in 7M25, while total imports grew by 4.9% to approx. EUR796.6 billion during the same period, according to data from the German Federal Statistical Office.

The US' additional tariffs on Chinese goods have prompted Chinese manufacturers to shift their products to the European market, which could be favorable news for German consumers as they can procure Chinese goods at lower prices, Enzo Weber, head of the IAB research unit for forecasts and macroeconomic analyses, said.
