Ding Yumei, the ex-wife of EVERGRANDE (03333.HK) founder Hui Ka Yan, spent GBP49.8 million in September 2022 to purchase 33 units in Thames City, London, Bloomberg quoted documents from the HM Land Registry as saying. This purchase came nearly a year after Chinese authorities demanded Hui to repay debts with his personal wealth. It is reported that Ding's global properties are valued at over US$350 million. She has been asked by Hong Kong liquidators to provide detailed asset disclosure, but she delayed the process by applying for confidentiality summons and other means.
