BABA-W Eddie Wu Calls on Employees to Return to Initial Enthusiasm w/ Focus on Core Biz Development

Tomorrow (10th) marks the 22nd anniversary of the founding of BABA-W (09988.HK) (BABA.US)'s Taobao platform, and is also the Group's annual AliDay. Eddie Wu, CEO of BABA-W, sent an internal letter to employees saying that the global technology wave is opening up a new era, while BABA-W must let go of its past achievements and return to its entrepreneurial initial enthusiasm, according to Chinese media. Wu called on employees to embark on a new journey with the mindset of an entrepreneur. The Group had taken the initiative to change in the past 2 years, and refocused and prioritized its business direction around its main strategy of “user-first, AI-driven”, Wu added. In the future, the Group will focus on the development of several core businesses with “saturated investment”, and will place emphasis on long-term and global value over short-term topical value.
